Educational, nature-based fun!

We invite your class to join us at Nature’s Bounty. Explore the farm
with an interactive and outdoor learning experience. Ideal for
preschool to Grade 8 students.

Now Offering French School Tours! 🍎

We’re excited to now welcome French school groups to the orchard! We have friendly tour guides with university-level French who are excited to offer fun, engaging farm tours to French-Immersion classes.

TOPICS COVERED

  •  Plant growth stages and life cycle including take home planting activity
  • Beekeeping and honey making; wild pollinator activity
  • Working with nature to grow food and the journey from farm to fork
  • Environmental sustainability, native wildlife species and their role on the farm
  • How we grow apples, sunflowers, etc.
  • Visit the farm sheep including many lambs!

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

  •  An engaging and interactive tour from our guides
  • Exploration of the apple orchard, farm property and visit with the sheep
  • An opportunity to help plant pollinator gardens and your own seeds to take home
  • Outdoor free time to enjoy the play area

Rates

  • Students are $11 + HST, minimum 20 students required for booking
  • Adults: 1 free adult (teachers, support staff and parent chaperones welcome) for every 5 students
  • Additional parents, siblings, and other guests: $11 + HST each

Hours

  • The tour duration is approximately two hours
  • Morning arrivals available between 9:15-10:15 a.m.
  • Afternoon arrivals available between 12-1p.m.

Tips

  • Tours proceed rain or shine! This time of year is unpredictable and can be hot and humid or chilly and wet.
  • All guests should wear closed-toed shoes or boots and weather appropriate clothing. We would highly recommend bringing a rain jacket and hat.

Kindergarten: key Learnings

  • Learn what a farmer does, how food is grown, and how animals are cared for 👩‍🌾🐄
  • Meet and learn about bees and other pollinators 🐝
  • Learn what plants need to grow and plant your own seed to take home
  • See real farm tools, equipment, and beekeeper suits
  • Explore the orchard through simple, hands-on experiences 🌱

Grade 1: Key Learnings

  • Learn how farmers grow food and care for animals, including their basic needs (food, water, air, shelter, and space) 👩‍🌾🐄
  • Explore how living and non-living things work together in the orchard 🌱
  • Discover how apples and other plants grow through their life cycles 🍎
  • Understand the important role of bees and other pollinators 🐝
  • Learn simple ways to care for the environment and respect nature 🌿
  • Plant and take home their own seed 🌱

Grade 2: Key Learnings

  • Explore how farmers grow food and care for animals and crops 👩‍🌾🐄
  • Understand how living and non-living elements work together in the orchard 🌱
  • Discover the apple life cycle and how pollination helps produce fruit 🍎
  • Learn about bees and other pollinators and their role in the ecosystem 🐝
  • Identify local wildlife (birds, deer, bats) and how they impact the farm
  • Learn how farmers protect crops while keeping wildlife safe
  • Discover simple ways to support and care for wildlife, including species at risk 🌿
  • Explore farm materials and where they come from
  • Plant and take home their own seed

Grade 3: Key Learnings

  • Explore the apple life cycle, from bud to blossom to fruit 🍎
  • Learn about pollinators, including bees and butterflies, and their role in the orchard 🐝
  • Understand the difference between native and non-native pollinators
  • Identify parts of a flower (petals, stamen, pistil) and how pollination works
  • Participate in a hands-on pollination activity
  • Discover wildlife on the farm and how it interacts with the environment
  • Observe natural features of the land and how geography shapes the orchard 🌱
  • Explore species of special concern and the factors contributing to their risk of extinction
  • Understand the classification of animals and the unique characteristics of each group.
